Tapping Products
SERVICE SADDLES AND TAPPING SLEEVES FOR CONNECTING NEW SERVICES AND BRANCH LINES TO EXISTING WATER MAINS — WITHOUT TAKING THE SYSTEM OUT OF SERVICE.
A tap is how a new service or branch line gets onto a main that’s already in the ground, and the saddle or sleeve is what holds that connection for the life of the line. We stock service saddles for small-diameter service taps and tapping sleeves for full-size branch and fire line connections, matched to the main’s actual outside diameter so the seal is right the first time.
Materials Available:
Ductile iron and stainless steel service saddles in single- and double-strap designs with coated bodies. Full-circle stainless steel and fabricated steel tapping sleeves, plus ductile iron mechanical joint tapping sleeves, with outlets built to mate with a tapping valve.
Typical Use Cases:
New residential and commercial service connections, fire line and branch line connections, hot taps on pressurized mains, and adding connections to an existing system without shutting customers off.
Technical Considerations:
Saddles and sleeves are selected by main material and actual OD range (ductile iron, C900 PVC, cast iron, asbestos cement, and steel all differ), outlet size, and working pressure. Service saddle outlets are threaded to accept a corporation stop, and tapping sleeve outlets are flanged or mechanical joint to accept a tapping valve. Our team will match the OD range and outlet to your main and your spec.
